Settlement Support

Settling into a new country and city has its challenges.  It may not always be easy to find information you need about getting a job, looking for schools, understanding the health system and other aspects about starting a new life in New Zealand.

Settlement Support Christchurch
Funded by Immigration New Zealand, and delivered by the Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce.

Settlement Support Christchurch is a FREE Service available to Canterbury employers and newcomers who need assistance to find information about settlement issues.

We assist in employers by:

  • Supporting Canterbury employers in attracting people with the skills required for rebuilding Christchurch and contributing to our economic recovery and growth.
  • Assisting Canterbury employers with the retention of their skilled and highly productive migrants by supporting them and their families settle and integrate more effectively into Christchurch and their communities.

We assist newcomers by:

Assisting them to understand the New Zealand way of life and workplace culture so they are able to contribute fully to New Zealand society and it's economy. This includes assisting them to find information about settlement issues ranging from:

  • Finding somewhere to live
  • Understanding our schools and education system
  • Finding work and job opportunities
  • Accessing Engligh language training and skills
  • Finding a doctor and other health providers
  • Connecting with others in our community
