The Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce is the Regional Technology Partner for the South Island.
One of the key challenges facing businesses is how to create the right combination of innovation, capability building, and research and development, particularly in hi-tech fields. Hi-tech is now very much a part of a wide range of sectors, not just the traditional ICT industry. Whether you are a backyard inventor or an established business we can help you to access expertise, resources, skills building and technology co-funding to assist you to develop new products and maximise commercial return from them.
The New Zealand Government offers a full range of co-funding assistance designed to encourage improvement in the capability of existing businesses. The grants are administered through MSI and are focused on improving economic growth. The eligibility criteria make the grants open to any New Zealand business registered for GST with:
- The pathway to market
- The ability to deliver
- A benefit to New Zealand
- Technical stretch
Funds are not available to supplement a shortage of capital or operational expenses.

Technology Transfer Vouchers
The Technology Transfer Voucher programme was announced as a new research and development (R&D) initiative in the May 2010 budget. The vouchers enable businesses to access research services and expertise for a specific R&D project.
The objective of the voucher programme is to bring more technology and knowledge from the science sector to the business community.
The Foundation for Research, Science and Technology is administering the new voucher programme.
