Enatel acquires DC Power Technologies USA

Christchurch power electronics company Enatel® has today announced the acquisition of its USA distributor DC Power Technologies Inc (DCPT).

Mike Clifford - General Manager, Enatel, Doug Sanford - Chief Operating Officer, IDEAL Industries Inc., Vern Allen - Founder, DCPT.

Enatel, owned since 2018 by IDEAL Industries Inc USA, designs and manufactures world leading battery chargers for industrial electric vehicles at its Wigram, Christchurch facilities.

Known as the industry’s most efficient battery chargers, Enatel’s products are marketed worldwide under the Enatel and EcoCharge® brands, while they also design and produce for market leading companies in the material handling equipment, and airport ground support sectors.

DC Power Technologies, based in Marysville, Washington, has distributed EcoCharge products in the USA since 2013.

The acquisition brings together the market expertise, service capabilities, and local resources of the DCPT team and Enatel’s ability to invest and scale the business.

The acquisition of DCPT, is part of our strategy to get closer to our customers and expand in the US, in addition to growing in the Asia Pacific and European markets” says Mike Clifford, General Manager of Enatel.

Enatel exports over 90% of its output and employs 200 people across industrial design, software and hardware engineering, manufacturing and all business support functions.

To enable the company’s growth plans, they are investing in a purpose-built facility in Dakota Park near Christchurch Airport which is expected to be operating by early 2026.
