The Bold Company Podcast, hosted by Business Canterbury’s Hannah Weeds and Ruffells' Tim McInnes, offers a compelling glimpse into the dynamic world of Canterbury’s business community. In each episode, they sit down with visionaries driving innovation, resilience, and success in the region.
Season 2 Episode 3
Episode 3 features Flip Grater, a musician who became a restaurateur, but never planned to enter the hospitality world. She just wanted good vegan salami and cheese to exist. What began as selling homemade treats on Facebook naturally grew into Greater Goods, now known as GG Bistro.
Her approach to business revolves around three main ideas:
- Accept that business has ups and downs. When the economy slows, she focuses on improving systems and company culture instead of pushing for growth at any cost.
- Make spaces where everyone feels at home. Her bistro serves great food without being fancy, making plant-based options available to everyone.
- Take time to appreciate small achievements. Building a strong base during good times helps weather the tough periods.
What business cycles are you dealing with right now? How do you balance growing your business with strengthening what you already have? Answer all yout questions and tune into Season2 Epsidoe 3.
The second season of the podcast is sponsored by Christchurch Airport – growing the engine room for Canterbury businesses and ChristchurchNZ, the city's economic development agency, shaping an economy where people and places thrive. And the lovely people at Ruffells, one of Christchurch’s leading creative studios, are helping us make this happen by recording and post-producing the series and bringing the good vibes.
