Content guidelines for Bold Company
We’re looking for content that:
- Fits our editorial themes and helps share useful insights with the Canterbury business community.
- Comes from a credible source or organisation.
- Does not contain advertising, product promotion, or paid placements.
- Focuses on informative, editorial storytelling, rather than self-promotion.
Once we’ve published your content, please let us know if any links or references change.
Who can submit content
We welcome contributions from:
- Business Canterbury members (news submissions are free as part of membership).
- Non-members (may enquire about submission opportunities and fees).
- Public and private sector organisations, including business associations and groups that support local businesses.
We reserve the right to decline content that does not meet our editorial standards.
Submission and review process
- All content will be reviewed by Business Canterbury to ensure it meets Bold Company standards and remains editorial, neutral, and compliant.
- Feedback may be provided to maintain clarity, neutrality, and adherence to our content guidelines.
- Publication is at the discretion of Business Canterbury.
- Articles appear under the Bold Company name, with contributors credited in text where appropriate.
Writing Guidelines
All content submitted to Bold Company should be editorial and news-style, rather than promotional or marketing-focused. This means:
- Neutral and factual — present information objectively, without promoting a product, service, or company.
- News-focused — highlight milestones, achievements, innovations, community impact, or experiences from the Canterbury business community.
- Clear and concise — use plain English; avoid jargon, slang, or legalese.
- Informative — provide useful insight for the wider business community, sharing real examples or developments.
- Credible — ensure information is accurate and sourced appropriately; any opinions should be clearly attributed.
- Relatable — case studies or examples are encouraged, but they should illustrate a newsworthy event or achievement rather than advertise a company.
- Consistent with Bold Company standards — all content is reviewed to maintain editorial neutrality and compliance.
- Word count — articles should be 400–500 words.

- Submitted content remains the intellectual property of the contributor unless otherwise agreed.
- By submitting content, contributors grant Business Canterbury the right to publish, edit, and distribute the content under the Bold Company name. Contributors are credited where appropriate.
- Bold Company content is intended for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, financial, or business advice.
- Business Canterbury is not liable for any errors, omissions, or decisions made based on content published on Bold Company.
ℹ️ How to submit content
To submit content for Bold Company, please email us with:
- Your name and organisation
- A summary of your content and its relevance to the Canterbury business community
- The type or form of content (article, case study, video, or downloadable resource)
- Permission for Business Canterbury to use and publish the content
File formats:
- Include the text in an email or attach as a .doc or .pdf
- Attach any images (minimum of 1 landscape image) as .png, .jpg, or .jpeg [image resolution/size]
