Leading Through Change: Lessons from Amy Jones’ “Power Up Your Leadership” Workshop
Business leaders explore strategies for navigating disruption and building resilient teams, identifying AI, political change, and workforce challenges as key disruptors—while emphasising human connection, culture, and communication.
Power Up Your Leadership with Amy Jones
Business Canterbury recently hosted Power Up Your Leadership - an interactive half-day workshop designed to help leaders refresh their approach, build influence, and lead with clarity.
Led by Amy Jones, a leadership consultant from Human Impact Leadership with over 15 years of executive experience in people and change, the session brought together Canterbury professionals from across sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, IT, and hospitality.
Participants explored how to lead through complexity and future disruption while keeping people and purpose at the centre of their leadership.
Navigating Disruption with Courage and Clarity
Attendees identified artificial intelligence, political change, economic pressures, and generational shifts as the major disruptors facing their organisations in the years ahead.
“There’s a really under-utilised opportunity for businesses to prepare for disruption in a positive way,” Amy shared. “If you’re looking for disruption and potential risks and opportunities, you’re going to see it from a positive lens.”
The discussion highlighted the value of building a generative culture — where innovation and ideas come from within, rather than being imposed from the top.
Empowering Teams to Lead from Within
Amy encouraged leaders to shift focus from control to enablement.
“Your role as the leader becomes: how do I create a clear runway so people can do their jobs, come up with ideas, and solve problems?”
The group also explored the tension between innovation and risk management, with a shared recognition that traditional leadership models no longer fit today’s fast-moving environment.
